Lompoc native Rhonda Jean Amis passed away on May 18th in Santa Rosa, California ending her valiant 4 year battle with cancer. She was born in Lompoc on March 18, 1951 and graduated from Lompoc High school in 1969. Rhonda worked at Lockheed-Martin for many years at Vandenberg AFB and later at the Waterton Canyon, Colorado location where she retired in 2006. After leaving her position as an aerospace engineer designer she moved to Santa Rosa, California to be closer to her family.

Ms. Amis is survived by a son, Jason and daughter in law Debbie Smith and baby grand daughter Brooke Marie Smith of Santa Rosa, CA, as well as sisters Glenda Sprague recently of Littleton, Colorado and Bobbie Sue Brown and brother in law Christopher Brown of Coronado, CA. She also leaves behind her father Ralph Amis a long-time resident of Lompoc currently residing in Santa Rosa, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother Bonnie Pauline Amis who passed away in 1999. She had many friends and loved ones that cared about her and will be deeply missed.
