Frank Robert Prater, Jr. was born in Norfolk, Va. on March 20, 1951 to Frankand Barbara Moody Prater. Frank graduated from Lompoc High School in 1969 and served in the U.S. Air Force. After returning home, he married Catherine "Kay" Mary Gaumer on May 23, 1975. On Jan. 13, 1981, he had a daughter Peggy Jean. When his wife retired from work in 2006, they moved to Arizona.When Peggy married in 2009, Frank quickly embraced Wayne A. Spencer as a son.Frank had a grandson, Michael, who precedes him in death. Frank left for his new life on April 24, 2011 at 8 p.m.Besides his wife, daughter and son-in-law he leaves behind his sister-in-law, Jean Gaumer and her husband John Andrews; two brothers-in-law, John Gaumer and his companion Sue Ellen Wilson and Rex Gaumer and his wife Carol Blakely Gaumer; as well as a niece, Julia Andrews; and four nephews, Quinn, Gregory, and Jason Gaumer and Steven Andrews.A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Chino Valley, 1524 N.
